Thomas Tuchel's side made it passed French champions Lille 4-1 to get into the UEFA Champions League quarter finals where they are paired up against LaLiga leaders Real Madrid who edged out Ligue1 leaders Paris Saint Germain. Carlo Ancelotti's men produced a phenomenal comeback against the French powerhouse. The Blues defence of their Champions League crown is going swimmingly so far despite the ownership debacle that they are facing. Until the weekend, Chelsea had done a stellar job of focusing on the pitch rather than what is happening off the pitch. They however go into the UCL clash having succumbed to a 4-1 defeat in their Premier League match against Brentford. Their six games unbeaten run came to an end in a such a disappointing fashion. However, the Blues have not being knocked out of the UCL competition at the quarter finals stage ever since the 2010-2011 season when they went down against Manchester United.
The Spanish capital giants get into the game boasting of eliminating Paris Saint Germain thanks to a second leg second half comeback courtesy of a Kareem Benzema hat-trick. A side with a record of 13 European crowns to their names and are still searching for a 14th European title. Being crashed 4-0 by their arch rivals Barcelona sure did dampen their spirits. The Los Blancos will be looking to bounce back since this will be their first meeting with the European ‘big boys’ ever since their El Clasico defeat but the Blues will definitely step up to the task as they will be aiming at securing a back to back Champions League trophy.
