Argentina are under pressure to win their match against Poland if they are to make their World Cup dream come true. They need a win to advance to the next round of the competition.

Two times world champions Argentina will be looking to make it two wins in their last group stage match as that will be the only result that will guarantee them a place in the round of 16 knockout stages. Argentina will be going head-to-head with Poland at Stadium 974. After suffering a shocking 2-1 defeat in their opening game against Saudi Arabia, the South American giants will be looking to avoid a repeat of the same when they face Poland tonight. They now sit at position two of their table after they beat fellow South American giants Mexico 2-0 as superstar Lionel Messi scored and assisted in that match. The Argentine nation will be hoping that he will be up for the task tonight as they have put all their world cup winning ambitions into him. There is no doubt that he will rise to the occasion though.

As for Poland, they have enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign and currently sit at the top of Group standings with four points from their opening two matches. After opening their world cup campaign with a scoreless draw against Mexico, Czeslaw Michniewicz's team defeated Saudi Arabia four days later with goals from Piotr Zielinski and the leading goal scorer, Robert Lewandowski.  While Poland have put themselves in pole position to secure a first knockout-stage appearance since 1986, they must avoid defeat on Wednesday as Argentina and Saudi Arabia are both level on three points.

However, Poland may find it somewhat difficult to prevail against the two-time world champions. They have lost 6 of their last 11 meetings against Argentina including a 2-0 loss in the 1978 FIFA World Cup. Poland could take courage in the fact that they are unbeaten in three of their last four matches against Argentina though having won twice and drawn ones. Their most recent game in 2011 ended in a 2-1 victory in favour of Poland.

The fact of this match, however, is that Argentina are under pressure to perform well tonight. Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest player to have ever graced a football pitch and what he lacks for his name to be mentioned alongside the likes of Diego Maradona, Pele, and Ronaldinho is a FIFA World Cup trophy. He will definitely be up to the task to ensure that Argentina gets as far as they can in the Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup and possibly even enjoy their glorious moment of winning the world cup which is the most coveted trophy in the world.
