Arsenal face Crystal Palace on their EPL day two as they make the trip to Selhurst Park aiming to capitalize on the shortcomings of Manchester United and Chelsea to seal an early heads tart of the EPL campaign.

Crystal Palace subjected Sheffield United to a 1-0 defeat in their opening match while the Gunners got the better of Nottingham Forest when they beat them 2-1 on EPL day one. Crystal Palace now have a chance to make it back-to-back winnings for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign if they can manage the uphill task of getting the better of Arsenal, which is highly unlikely. The Eagles only lost five home matches last season managing to turn Selhurst Park into a fortress. It is worth noting that Liverpool and Manchester United came up short on Crystal Palace's home turf. However, four of Palace's five home defeats came against fellow Premier League teams from the capital with the only exceptional defeat coming from Manchester City

Arsenal will be without key attacker Gabriel Jesus as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee operation but Eddie Nketiah has proved to be a more than capable deputy for the Brazilian talisman. He was assisted by Gabriel Martinelli to fire Arsenal into the lead against Nottingham Forest before the club's star player Bukayo Saka finished up the job with a rocket into the top corner. However, as was the case several times last season, Mikel Arteta's side switched off after taking a 2-0 lead and offered Forest a route back into the game through Taiwo Awanoyi's lightning-quick counter-attacking goal - triggering flashbacks of last year's Liverpool and West Ham United capitulations - but the Gunners held on for an uncomfortable triumph. Last season's Premier League runners-up now return on the road after registering ten clean sheets on away soil last term which was by far the most in the league as was the case with their away points tally which came to a total of 39.  A weird point to note, however, is that Mikel Arteta has lost all games in charge of Arsenal on a Monday night.

The Gunners won 10 out of 12 of their London derbies last season setting a new record in the Premier League. The first of these wins came in a 2-0 triumph at Selhurst Park before trumping Crystal Palace 4-1 on the return fixture at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal did show their ambition to lift their first Premier League title in two decades last season and if the summer fixtures are anything to go by, then it is safe to say that they still have a burning desire to become the Arsenal that they used to be back in the good old days rivalry between Arsene Wenger's Arsenal and Sir Alex Fergurson's Manchester United. The Gunners will now have to cope between an added number of fixtures as they earned their ticket back to the UEFA Champions League tournament.
