Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is currently the Premier League top scorer with 22 goals and he is facing fierce competition from his closest challenger Heung-Min Son of Tottenham who has netted 21 goals so far. In the South Korean international's case, none of the goals originated from a penalty. Many football lovers will give it to Salah to take home his third golden boot in just five seasons at Liverpool given the fact that they are in a title race with their modern arch-rivals Manchester City and both teams will be looking to score as many goals as possible on the last day of the league in order to widen the goal difference. Salah started the EPL campaign on a high note netting 10 goals in Liverpool's opening 9 games and 3 of those were a hat-trick against Manchester United. He has however failed to find the net in his last four appearances.
The Egyptian international has, however, remained bullish in his scoring capabilities. In his own words; "If you compare me with any player in my position, not only in my team but in the world, you will find that I am the best. I always focus on my work and do my best and my numbers are the best proof of my words." Salah missed Tuesday's clash against Southampton as he collected an injury in the FA Cup final against Chelsea and therefore Sunday's game will be his final chance to prove himself as the goal-scoring machine in the EPL. Heung Son has now brought himself closer to clinching the golden boot with a brace against Leicester in Tottenham's 3-1 win. Spurs will be visiting Norwich on Sunday and the Korean international will fancy adding more goals to his tally.
It is evidently a two-horse race between Son and Salah and it will be decided on the final day of the EPL fixtures, match day 38. Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo comes a distant third with 18 goals and there is no chance that he can overtake the two in their final game against Crystal Palace. He has, however, had a good running with recent hat-tricks against Norwich City and Tottenham. It is evident that all the other players have been reduced to spectators of Heung-Min Son and Mohamed Salah to watch and see how the Sunday games will play out to unveil the golden boot winner. But as things stand right now, Salah is the man to watch.
