Bayern Munich are the clear favourites but in a game that holds a lot of surprises, Villarreal can stun them as they did to Juventus.

Villarreal will be seeking another memorable European scalp when Bayern Munich come to visit at the Estadio de la Ceramica for their first fixture of the UEFA Champions League quarter final tie. They produced a phenomenal show against Italian power house Juventus and knocked them out of the European most coveted club competition. Unai Emery's men had managed a 1-1 draw in their first leg match against Juventus before they sunk them at the Allianz Arena in front of their own fans during the return tie. Villarreal continue as underdogs in the champions league having being knocked out in the quarter finals once before by Arsenal in the 2008-2009 campaign.

Bayern come into this match having had a comfortable win against Red Bull Salzburg in their round of 16 matches. Bayern are yet to bag their customary Bundesliga title but they have ensured that their closest challengers, Borussia Dortmund are out of sight having left them with 9 points already. They are looking to avoid a back to back quarter finals exit having being knocked out of the last season's campaign by Paris Saint Germain. They are however, on an eight game unbeaten streak going into tonight's match which will go a long way in boosting their morale. The German champions last won the champions league in the 2019-20 season and they are determined to take the trophy to Munich this season.

Villarreal and Bayern Munich first met during the 2011-12 season and the latter secured a 2-0 win against the former in the first leg of the meet up before they sealed their victory with a 3-1 second leg win. That season they finished as runners up in the UCL. They will however be weary of a side that knocked out Italian giants Juventus who are amongst the ‘big boys’ of Europe.
