Bayern Munich shocked the sporting world as they announced the unexpected and immediate sacking of Julian Nagelsmann and appointed Thomas Tuchel as his successor.

Have Bayern Munich made the right decision with shock managerial change? This is the question that is lingering in the minds of a majority of football lovers as the German powerhouse have decided to make a huge managerial switch at a crucial time of the season. Tuchel has been out of work since being sacked at Chelsea in September and has been living in Munich for the past few weeks. Bayern Munich have been struggling domestically this season and lie second behind their arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund on the Bundesliga table.

Nagelsmann is said not to have been at the training ground this week and Bayern have gone backward in the league in addition to the hierarchy not seeing enough player development. Bosses and players at Bayern were also surprised to see that the 35-year-old was on a skiing holiday this week at such a pivotal time as they feel it sends the wrong signal. Teams are, however, on an international break as various international fixtures have been going on for the past few days.

Tuchel was fired at Chelsea under the new ownership of Todd Boehly and has previously managed Dortmund and Paris Saint Germain. He is expected to take his opening training session on Monday with his first game set to be against his former club Dortmund in what might turn out to be a determiner of who will carry the league this season between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund
