Tom Glick has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Chelsea Football Club and will now assume responsibility for the club's day-to-day operations, driving revenue growth, creating exceptional experiences for the club fanatics, enhancing fan engagement, and managing the club's global financial strategy. On his appointment, Glick had this to say; “Chelsea FC is an iconic sports institution, known and admired all over the world. I have been very impressed with the vision and mission of Todd Boehly and Clearlake. They have the Chelsea community at the heart of everything they do. We have a huge opportunity here to enhance performance across the board, on behalf of everyone we serve.”
Chelsea chairman and co-owner Todd Boehly had this to say after they made the appointment; “Tom’s successful track record as a leader and innovator at several respected and winning sports organizations made him the obvious choice for this position. His skills and experience will be vital as we improve Chelsea FC’s key infrastructure, expand the Club’s products and reputation, and find exciting new ways for our loyal supporters to engage with their favorite players.” Other co-controlling owners Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano also expressed their confidence in Glick saying; “Tom is a terrific addition to Chelsea FC and will advance our long-term plans for the Club. He has the experience and credentials to elevate our significant global standing and help lead our commitment to strengthen the Club through investments in squad additions, infrastructure, technology, the youth academy, and the Women’s Team.”
Tom Glick comes from his most recent job serving as President of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers franchise. He managed stellar improvements to Bank of America Stadium and his record is there for everyone to see. Glick also oversaw the creation of Major League Soccer’s Charlotte Football Club, which Chelsea FC will face on 21 July as part of the Club’s US tour of friendly fixtures as they continue with their pre-season ties. Tom Glick is not new to leadership positions as he has in the past been charged with high responsibilities among them; serving as Chief Commercial Officer of City Football Group where he was in charge of global business operations across the world, Chief Executive Officer of Derby County, and has also held senior marketing positions with the New Jersey Nets and the NBA. He has also been an English Football player serving on the Professional Game Board, Football League Board, and the FA Council. He is also a former Manchester City executive.
