Cristiano Ronaldo has made clear his intentions to leave Manchester United, but he has already faced rejections from a number of clubs. Will his wish be granted?

Portugal international star player Cristiano Ronaldo wants to be released from his Manchester United contract in order to be allowed to go and play in a club that will feature in this season's UEFA Champions League. After talking with Erik Ten Hag and Sir Alex Fergurson, the Portuguese is in the same mood and wants to go to a club where he can play in an elite competition. He has only been at United for a year after he resigned for the club in a 13 million euros move from Juventus. Speculations are now high about a possible departure although the thesis that a move will really happen is less and less realistic. This is because most of the elite clubs have already ruled out any possibility of the Portuguese player signing for them.

Atletico Madrid were rumored to be interested in the striker but the club fans through the official Rojiblancos fan group have expressed their views against having the player in their squad and have further warned the club against sealing a deal with him. The fan group announced through their official channels that their one request is for the Ronaldo deal to not be completed as they believe that by buying Ronaldo, the club would have violated the principles and values that Atletico Madrid as an institution stands for and also their coach Diego Simeone is not in need of a player who is on a decline. The statement reads; "Since the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo coming to our club appeared, that is, when it became more than speculation, we have expressed clear opposition to a possible transfer. Cristiano Ronaldo represents the antithesis of all Atlético's values: commitment, generosity, simplicity and humility. We ask the club to withdraw from further consideration of this deal, if it is still on the table.

Enrique Cerezo, Atleti's first man stated that it is "practically impossible" for Ronaldo to strengthen the club this summer. His words, however, did not cheer up the fans who went ahead to show their displeasure with a banner at their preseason match which clearly read; “CR7 - you are not welcome.” "No matter how incredible that deal could be, even if it guaranteed us trophies, we would not want or accept Ronaldo's transfer to Atlético. Unfortunately, he doesn't feel the club like we do and would never get our respect or commitment."

Ronaldo and his agents have already submitted his request to leave Manchester United but in the meantime, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, and now Atletico Madrid have all rejected him. We wait to see if he will eat the humble pie and remain at Manchester United to play in the UEFA Europa League
