The second leg of the UEFA Europa League tie will play out tonight and eight teams will be battling it out for a ticket into the semi-finals of the competition. With a first leg tie that saw three out of the four matches end in a draw, the stakes are high in these second tie fixtures.
Atalanta vs RB Leipzig: The first leg tie at The Red Bull Arena produced a 1-1 draw following a strike from Muriel and an own goal from Zappacosta. The Bundesliga side continued their recent revival at the weekend but their Serie A hosts continued to stumble, losing their second successive game to slip eight on the Serie A table. After they overcame another Bundesliga side, Bayer Leverksuen in the round of 16, Atalanta were still pitted with a team from the German nation. Atalanta's form in the competition since dropping down from the Champions League indicates that they have what it takes to go it all up to the finals of the competition.
Barcelona vs Eintracht Franfurt: The first fixture of this tie ended in a 1-1 draw that was quite disappointing to the Catalan giants considering that they had put in much effort in the possession of the game but failed to translate it into goals. The two goal scorers of the tie were Fernando Torres and Knauff. The two outfits played out an entertaining draw at the Deutsche Bank Park and nothing less than that is expected from both of them in the second tie. Barcelona have been on an upward trajectory in the recent months following Xavi Hernandes take over at the helm and even though they dropped from the UCL into the UEL, they are one of the clear favorites to add this season's title to their name.
Lyon vs West Ham: EPL side West Ham and Ligue1 side Lyon played an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Olympic Stadium in London courtesy of Bowen's and Ndombele's goals. Either Barcelona or Frankfurt awaits the winner of this tie that saw the first leg have its fair share of controversy. A pitch invader ran onto the pitch during the match that saw Aaron Cresswell red-carded. West Ham have been eliminated from European competitions however, on each of the last three times that they have failed to win their knockout match at home. The Groupama Stadium poses as a threat to the English side therefor no matter what shape Lyon's injury-hit side may be in.
Braga vs Rangers: It is the only tie that did not end in a stalemate during their first fixture as the Portugese side, Braga edged out their Scottish counterparts Glasgow Rangers following Ruiz strike that saw them win 1-0. The Scottish giants have plenty of work to do in the match if they are to get into the competition's semi-finals.
