In a thrilling final weekend of the Premier League season, the race for the Golden Boot went down to the wire.

A captivating battle between Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Tottenham's Son resulted in both of them netting 23 Premier League goals to earn the golden boot. Despite the fact that Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title as they lost the race to Manchester City, their forward Mohamed Salah still has all reasons to smile as he was awarded his third golden boot in just a time span of five seasons at Liverpool. He started the EPL season in a prolific form as he netted 10 goals in the opening 9 games including a hat-trick against Manchester United. He then scored a brace in the 6-0 win over Leeds United and later again in the 4-0 hammering of Manchester United yet again. He disappeared from the Premier League for a while as he went on international duty to play for Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where they lost on penalties to Senegal and which boasts of his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane

Tottenham Hotspur's Heung-Min Son brought himself back into the conversation following his brace in their 3-1 win against Leicester. The South Korean international was one goal behind Salah when Tottenham made the trip to Norwich but he ensured that he scored a second-half brace to share the coveted golden boot with Liverpool's Salah. He now becomes the first Asian player to secure the prize. Son was joyous to receive the crown, in his words; "I’m very happy and I’m really grateful to the team, they helped me along all season but especially in this game today because after 3-0, everyone was like, 'come on Sonny, you’ve got to do it, you deserve this and I really appreciate that."

Cristiano Ronaldo finished with 18 goals as his side Manchester United finished the season on a low by suffering a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace. It is worth noting that the Portuguese international netted hat-tricks against Tottenham and Norwich in the second leg of the campaign. Harry Kane closely followed behind Ronaldo with 17 goals and Sadio Mane netted 16. Diogo Jota, Kevin De Bryune, and Jamie Vardy were also amongst the top scorers.
