It is the first time since 1981 that the Hammers find themselves basking in the European glory.

West Ham are into the quarter finals of the Europa League for the first time since 1981 after they hammered Sevilla 2-0 to knock them out of the European competition. They now join Barcelona, Rangers, RB Salzburg, Atalanta, Lyon, Braga, and Frankfurt. Sevilla had won the first leg tie 1-0 and Tomas Soucek levelled up for the hammers in the 39th minute to send the game into extra time where Andriy Yarmolenko scored in extra-time to send the David Moyes' men into the next round. Sevilla, who are specialists in Europe's second-tier club competition and sit second in LaLiga, have now been eliminated from this tournament for the first time since losing to Slavia Prague in 2018-19.

Yarmolenko is the man responsible of firing West Ham to the European quarter-final and now has 13 Europa League goals, the second-most of any Ukrainian player, behind only Junior Moraes, who has 14 in the competition. Antonio assisted in Soucek's opener, which made him the first player to hit double figures for both goals and assists in a single season for West Ham since Dimitri Payet recorded 12 goals and 15 assists in 2015-16. Currently in the Premier League, he is the second player to score 10 goals and provide 10 assists in all competitions this season. Mohamed Salah is the only one ahead of him with 28 goals and 10 assists.

West Ham are now focused in ensuring that they go as far as they possibly can in the Europa League competition and as they face Tottenham this coming weekend, they will be aiming at maintaining a position that will guarantee them a spot in Europe's competitions come next season.
