Jurgen Klopp has signed a contract extension at Liverpool and now his spell at the helm of the club will run up to 2026. The previous contract had tied down Klopp and his staff up to 2022 but he has now prolonged his years at the Reds. Many had expected that after being the boss at Liverpool since 2015, he would take a sabbatical after the end of the 2023-24 campaign. However, the current quadruple chase that Liverpool are involved in seems to have re-energized the German coach to sign a new deal with the club to see it through more success.
The President of the Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group was present at Wednesday's UEFA Champions League semi-final game where Liverpool beat Villarreal 2-0. It is projected that he was there to try and help in the progression of a new deal with Klopp whose agent Marc Kosicke was also at Anfield that night. Liverpool owners had been determined to keep Klopp at the club beyond his existing terms and made their move after indications that the German manager wanted to do the same. Liverpool have been on a steadily rising trajectory ever since Klopp took the reigns and even delivered the EPL title after a 25 years wait not to mention that he has won the UCL with them and recently won the EFL Carabao cup amongst other trophies.
The Reds are reportedly at their best as they have booked their ticket to the Emirates FA Cup final, they have got one leg in the UCL final, they are one point behind EPL leaders Manchester City, and they have already backed the Carabao cup trophy. They are very ambitious that they can achieve the quadruple if they concentrate on winning all the games ahead of them. It is worth noting that Klopp lifted the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup in 2019 just a year before lifting the Premier League. Given the managerial stature that Jurgen Klopp enjoys, signing of his contract extension does not come in as good news to his rivals.
