After thrashing Chelsea on penalties to win the Carabao Cup title, Liverpool have yet again denied Chelsea a cup, this time around the FA Cup by ensuring that they miss to win their 3rd Emirates FA Cup final in a row. Coincidentally, the Reds, yet again, beat the Blues via penalty kicks after the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate both at the regular time and after extra time. While Chelsea's loss has left the Blues nursing a second final heartache in one season, Liverpool's win has left the Reds dreaming of achieving a quadruple that they have been chasing all season.
Now that they have the Carabao Cup and FA Cup trophies in their cabinets, all their focus shifts to the end of this month as they are set to square it out with Real Madrid in Paris for European glory in the UEFA Champions League final. Though they suffered an EPL setback after they were held to a 1-1 draw by top-four-chasing Tottenham Hotspurs, they are still held up in a Premier League title race with their fierce rivals Manchester City and they will be hoping that the Citizens slip in one if not all of their remaining two games. Man City currently have opened a 3 points gap from Liverpool and they are arguably the ones alongside Real Madrid who can deny such an ambitious Liverpool from being crowned winners of four competitive cups in one season.
Jurgen Klopp took over at the helm of Liverpool in October 2015 and he helped them win their first Premier League title after three decades of waiting. He has recently signed a contract extension and will in the next few days put all his energy and focus on winning a second UCL title in charge of Liverpool. Some might argue that the Premier League might be gone with back to back winners Manchester City, but Liverpool might be just 90 minutes away from lifting Europe's most prestigious title if they can manage to go passed 13 times UCL champions and recently crowned LaLiga kings Real Madrid. Liverpool fans on the other hand will be crossing their fingers for ‘the almost impossible’ that Manchester City slips in their remaining two games to keep their wild quadruple hopes alive.
