Liverpool take on Liverpool today at Anfield Stadium as the two teams have got different pressures to achieve certain goals by the season's end.

The history of the Liverpool-Manchester United rivalry is more than a century long and dates back to the year 1894. The two teams have played 236 matches in all competitions since then with Manchester United winning 89 of them and Liverpool 79. The two teams will meet today at the Anfield Stadium and are both in a fight for different end goals in this season's campaign. Liverpool are looking to dethrone Manchester City as the Premier League champions while United are aiming for a top-four finish to enable them to play in next season's Champions League.

The Reds head into the game having just come from booking their final spot at the Emirates FA Cup final after they edged passed their arch-rivals Manchester City in a 3-2 victory at Wembley Stadium this past weekend. The Red Devils have their share of confidence ahead of the clash, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo who scored a hat-trick against Norwich City to earn United a 3-2 EPL win. Ronaldo is often labeled as the problem at Old Trafford this season but he was very much the solution this past weekend.

The manager elect, Erik ten Hag, who is expected to turn the United ship around at take the club back to its glory days, he himself came from a 3-2 defeat with Ajax as PSV beat them in the KNVB-Beker final. The weekend win now means that United leap-frogged Arsenal and are now seated in the fifth place with Tottenham 3 points clear ahead of them with a far much better goal difference.

United will be looking to avoid a repeat of a 5-0 embarrassment that was dished upon them by Liverpool in the first leg of this fixture at Old Trafford. Revenge will certainly be on their minds heading to Anfield but Jurgen Klopp's side who arguably enjoying the best time in their football history with a quadruple in their sight will be very weary of them as they do not want to lose site of the EPL title. Liverpool come into this clash with a slight advantage as United have failed to clinch victory at Anfield in any competition since 2016. Whichever way the match goes, football fans across the globe are looking forward to a thrilling entertaining match as two sides with different goals each so important to them take on each other.
