Manchester City have activated the release clause of Borussia Dortmund's striker Erling Haaland and now the player is set to join the club on July 1st at a fees of £85.5m including agents fees and other add-ons. Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has already aired out his views saying that the Haaland transfer will "set new levels" in the transfer market. Last week, Manchester City's C.E.O Ferran Soriano informed Hans-Joachim Watzke the Borussia Dortmund boss that City were ready to activate the player's release clause as outlined in his contract and the two clubs have moved in speed to finalize the deal.
Haaland joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg back in 2020 and has scored 85 goals in 88 games he has appeared for the Bundesliga giants. Dortmund will host Hertha Berlin at the Signal Iduna Park in what will be their last game of the league and the match will serve as a farewell match for their goal-scoring sensation. Guardiola was asked to speak about the deal in his Tuesday press conference but he steered away from the discussion saying that both Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City have asked him not to speak about the matter. He further said that he is not allowed to say anything until the deal is done.
On the other hand, Dortmund have moved with speed in search of a replacement of their departing star and now their eyes are trained on Adeyemi as they have closed a £30m deal with RB Salzburg to have the player in their squad. Adeyemi arrived at Dortmund airport at around 11am local time on Tuesday on a flight from Salzburg. He has flown to Dortmund to undergo a medical and sign the contract.
