Manchester City and Chelsea are negotiating on terms to trade Sterling with his value said to be worth at about £60m.

Raheem Sterling has 12 months remaining in his Manchester City contract. It is reported that Chelsea are interested in the England international and City are asking for about £60m. The Blues are confident of signing him during this transfer window. Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel is a big admirer of Sterling and believes that the forward is better suited to Chelsea's style of play than Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium international is set to go back to his former club Inter Milan on loan. Even though Sterling has only one year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City are understood to value the player up to £60m. Chelsea on the other hand believe that a fairer price would be £35m, a price that Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich could end up paying for Liverpool star Sadio Mane.

Sterling has won with Manchester City; 4 Premier League titles, 4 League Cups, and the Emirates FA Cup after joining the club in 2015. He has scored 131 goals in 339 appearances, just outside the top 10 in Man City's all-time goalscorers list. He has, however, not enjoyed a guaranteed starting spot under City boss, Pep Guardiola. He started 5 out of 12 UEFA Champions League games this season and Guardiola did not use him in 9 matches in the just concluded EPL season.

With the World Cup coming up in November and December, Sterling is guaranteed to be a regular starting 11 in Gareth Southgate's England squad. He started his career at the Queens Park Rangers academy in west London before moving to Liverpool when he was 15. He has a huge connection in London and that will be a huge factor in his Chelsea situation. The player is hungry for trophies as well as more playing time to make use of his worth. Chelsea are best suited to offer him both ambitions as well as a big pay cheque.
