Manchester United are fresh from lifting the Carabao cup and will be aiming at moving one step closer to lift yet another when they face West Ham for an FA Cup duel.

West Ham boss David Moyes will be returning to familiar territory at Old Trafford having been a manager of Manchester United and will be looking to avoid a third successive elimination with the Hammers at this stage of the competition. The Red Devils under the tutelage of Erik Ten Hag have been on a rising trajectory and even fans are dreaming of getting back to the ‘glory’ days when United was the team to beat in any English or European competition. First-half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford helped United to secure a trophy after close to six years of waiting. They had last won silverware when they secured the UEFA Europa League under the tutelage of then-manager Jose Mourinho.

The Old Trafford faithful bid to begin a new era of success as Ten Hag has restored belief amongst them. The Dutchman is now tasked with keeping their hopes of winning a quadruple alive as he sets his eyes on the Premier League, FA Cup, and the UEFA Europa League. United now have a 10 games unbeaten run across all competitions and will be looking to extend the streak to 11 tonight. They will take motivation from the fact that they have progressed from the FA Cup fifth round 41 times which is the most that any team has achieved at this stage of the competition. It is, however, worth noting that they failed to advance to this stage last season after they were eliminated in the fourth round by Middlesbrough on penalties. They have won the cup 12 times now and considering their current form, they can be confident of reaching they furthest they can in this competition if not going all the way to lift the trophy.

Had West Ham suffered defeat at home from Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, under fire manager David Moyes was facing the prospects of being sacked. However, the Scottman lived to fight another day following his 4-0 victory at the London Stadium. The East Londoners now seat two points clear of the relegation zone which means that they are still embroiled in the battle and need to perform a lot more better if they are to survive this season.

The Hammers last won the FA Cup competition in 1980 when Sir Trevor Brooking was in charge of the squad. They are now seeking to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in seven years but will first have to climb a mountain in the form of Manchester United if they are to achieve that feat. They, however, head into tonight's match with only one win in their last twenty visits to Old Trafford across all competitions. Additionally, in recent years, they have lost each of their last four FA Cup meetings with the Red Devils ever since they secured a 1-0 victory in the fourth round back in 2001.
