Manchester United are one of the most decorated clubs in the world but they seem to have recently lost their touch in the most recent years. They collected a record of 13 Premier League titles under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson who retired in 2013 having won the UEFA Champions League twice. Since his retirement, the club has been enduring serious regression. David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have all failed in their attempts to rekindle the glory that the Premier League powerhouse ones enjoyed. The interim manager Ralf Rangnick will now be passing over the managerial button to Erik ten Hag at the close of this 2021-22 season.
Manchester United's worst Premier League finish came during the 2013-14 season that saw them finish at the 7th position, Moyes was relieved off his duties after just 10 months at the helm of the club. Ryan Giggs had to take charge on an interim basis in the wake of his departure before Louis Van Gaal was looped in as the next boss. The Dutchman pushed the club slightly only to a fifth-place finish during the 2015-16 season although he was credited with delivering the Emirates FA Cup. Mourinho finished second during his first season at United although his second season saw the Red Devil finish at position 6 only managing to play in the Europa League.
There are only 4 games remaining for United this season as they prepare to face Chelsea, Brentford, Brighton, and Crystal Palace in that order. They now seat sixth in the league with 12 points to play for. It is an understatement to say that United are finding the going tough. Some of their best seasons are; 1993-94 when they finished 1st with 92 points, 1999-00 also 1st with 91 points, and the 2012-13 season when they were crowned champions having garnered 89 points. Simply put, ever seasons Ferguson left United during the 2012-13 season, they have mostly been a shadow of their past only trying to resurface their lost glory last season when they finished 2nd in the EPL but quickly slipped back down this season. All the eyes are now set on Erik ten Hag, the man who is now tasked with the hard assignment of the reawakening of a sleeping giant, and the fans will hoping that he will not just be another statistics at the helm of their most beloved club.
