South Korean international Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspurs has become a darling amongst North London football fanatics after he bagged the golden boot alongside Liverpool and Egyptian forward Mohammed Salah. He became the first Asian in Premier League history to acquire such a feat. It is no doubt that Heung Son alongside Harry Kane are attacking beasts at the forefront of Tottenham's line. The Korean international might now wear the same club jersey as South Korean teammate Kim Min-jae. The Fenerbahce defender was in London for talks over a possible move to Tottenham. He is arguably one of the best defenders in the Turkish Super League.
Min-jae joined Fenerbahce from the Chinese side Beijing Guoan for a modest fee of around $3 million. He has had a strong season playing in the Turkish Super League and his good form has made him get nicknamed ‘the beast back of Korea’. Spurs had an opportunity to sign the Korean international a year earlier but they were reluctant and now this might cost them dearly as they will have to part with around $25 million if they are to have him in their squad. What makes things more complicated for Antonio Conte is that Everton are also interested in the defender. The Korean beast started in all the 31 matches that he was available for in this past season and played all the 6 matches of Fenerbahce in the Europa League. The Turkish club have already turned down an offer from Italian side Napoli.
In the month of March, scouts of Premier League clubs; Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham, Italian giants Juventus, and Portuguese side FC Porto were all reported to be attending Fenerbahce matches just to watch Min-jae play. The only reason why most clubs are cautious of signing the South Korean is because of his injury history and status. But Tottenham are willing to risk the dice to have the Asian man in their squad no matter what amount it takes as Antonio Conte is looking forward to reinforcing his defense.
