Morocco surprised many football lovers by crashing football giant Belgium 2-0 in their last game. They now need another win to advance to the round of 16.

Morocco will have a chance to extend their stay in Qatar beyond the group stages when they face Canada in what will be their final group stage match. Canada have already been eliminated but they are a potentially huge implication against the North African nation should they beat them and at the same time Belgium overcome Croatia. There are many permutations surrounding the final match day in Group F, which remains incredibly tight and tough to call. However, things can be relatively simple for Morocco - win or draw and they progress regardless of what happens in the other match in the group.

If Morocco lose though, then things do become very complicated, as they would then need either Croatia to lose by at least two goals more than they do or for Belgium to lose in order to progress. If Morocco were to lose by four goals or more, then a draw in the other group match would knock them out too. Either way, Morocco just need to get the job done themselves but would be incredibly unfortunate not to go through having already taken points off both sides vying for a last-16 spot with them. Based on their performance in the last two games, Morocco will not have a problem, however, as they comfortably shut down both Croatia and Belgium.

While the 0-0 draw with Croatia was a dull contest, they showed off their attacking prowess against Belgium, winning 2-0 thanks to wonderful late strikes from Sabiri and  Zakaria Aboukhlal. Morocco have been by far the surprise package of the tournament given the caliber of the opponents they have been taking points from. Canada will only be playing for pride tonight as they have already been eliminated from the Qatar FIFA World Cup tournament following their two defeats in their group-stage games. They should definitely have got a result against a lackluster Belgian side, having missed a penalty and squandered numerous more openings but could not take them, becoming just the second side after hosts Qatar to exit the competition.

There is no doubt that there are strong foundations in place and a solid young group available to carry forward to the next World Cup, which they will co-host. However, they will hope not to exit the tournament on zero points again like they did in 1986. Morocco are by far Africa's strongest participant in this world cup and they are expected to beat Canada by at least a two-goal margin.
