Manchester City have just bagged themselves Borussia Dortmund's goal-scoring machine Erling Haaland. Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano informed BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke last week that City are ready to activate the striker's €75m release clause. Haaland has netted in 85 goals in the 88 appearances he has had for BVB ever since he joined the German side from RB Salzburg back in January 2020. The striker has already informed BVB that he is leaving the club at the end of the season. The deal is expected to be announced later this week as some details are set to be finalised in the agreement.
Haaland has been the subject of interest lately as the elite teams of Europe amongst them Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus have been fighting it out to have him in their squad. Man City are the top dogs who have had the last laugh amidst all the fighting that have been ongoing for the Norwegian international signature. City have played without the services of a recognized striker ever since Sergio Aguero, their club-record goalscorer left at the end of the 2020-21 season.
Dortmund on the other side seem to have quickly found a replacement of Haaland as they are set to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi who has netted 23 goals in 42 games with 8 assists. Unlike many star players whose transfer money are paid in installments, the 75 million Euros will be paid to Dortmund by City in one payment. It is, however, seen that it is way below the market value for a player of Haaland's stature.
