Pogba remains to be Manchester United's most expensive signing of all time when he made a £94.5 million move from Juventus to Old Trafford in 2016 but he never really lived up to his expectations at the club. It is even said that he frustrated fans with his inconsistent performance on the pitch. Injury issues halted his impact on the side, but when fit and when performing at his best, Pogba remained one of the best midfielders in the world. Nevertheless, he failed to live up to his price tag and left on a free transfer to return back to Juventus. In his official unveiling at Juventus, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner had this to say about his time at his former team Manchester United; "Changing coach every year is hard — this was a difficult aspect for me. Then there were a few injuries, but I think it was also a mental thing, playing and not playing makes you lose pace. There is a bit of everything — coach, team, position. All this has blocked me a bit. Now, however, I have left and you will see another Paul. I can do better. I am happy to come home, this is how I feel here. This is something more than a dream. I am very happy."
In his first stint with Juventus, Pogba originally wore the Jersey number 6 but he changed to number 10 back in 2015. This was hinted to be as a result of a possible positional shift then but Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli was quick to quash those suggestions by saying; "If anything, shirt numbers are important from a commercial perspective — the No10 has always made people dream, it's the shirt that the kids want. However, it's a shirt that we must find a player with certain characteristics for, a phenomenon. However, it's a shirt that we must find a player with certain characteristics for, a phenomenon. On his return to Juve, Pogba has been handed the number10 jersey again, and this comes out as a strong statement from the club. It was during Max Allegri's time at the Italian powerhouse that Pogba rose to his best ability as a player, it is no doubt that the Italian tactician was instrumental in convincing the French star to make a Turin comeback. Under Allegri, Pogba will fit in the attacking midfield role behind Dusan Vlahovic.
Paulo Dybala had been tipped to become the main man in Juventus after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club but he was undermined by injuries missing a combined 37 games in his final two campaigns at the Allianz Stadium Though talented, he was not consistently available and it is no surprise that Juve decided to part ways with the Argentine playmaker. Pogba had his fair share of injuries in the past seasons but when fit and firing, he is a game changer with the ability to single-handedly dictate the outcome of a match. He further has the experience of reaching major finals and winning big trophies and both Federica Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic can learn from him as he further shoulders some of the attacking burdens. Together, they will form a dangerous Juventus trio on the pitch.
