Tuesday night will have a couple of LaLiga matches taking place and there is plenty to play for with the race to secure the UEFA Champions League spot top of most teams' priority and the fight for survival in the League is also expected to play out. We take a look at the three games that are set to take place tonight.
Valencia vs Real Betis:
Real Betis conceded a last-minute defeat to Barcelona and that opened up the gap between them and Atletico Madrid for the final Champions League spot to six points and they are now relying upon a win at the Mestalla Stadium over Valencia to edge closer again to Diego Simeone's men. Betis have automatic qualification to the Europa League competitions following their Copa del Rey win but having gone winless in their last four games have made a top-four spot unlikely. They now face a Valencia side that they edged out on penalties and the psychological effects of that defeat might play in favor of their opponents. The hosts have gone without a win in their last seven games and their season is in real danger of petering out. Betis can, however, get a win to keep their faint UCL hopes alive.
Barcelona vs Celta Vigo:
Barcelona's win over Betis ensured they secured a Champions League spot for next season as they affirmed their authority on LaLiga position two with only Real Madrid the champions, ahead of them. Following Barca's UCL qualifications and Celta Vigo being firmly in the middle of the table, none of the teams have a huge amount to play for tonight and might use the match as a platform to showcase their younger talents. Barcelona has a squad of younger players looking to be involved in Xavi's future plans and they will be out to show him their worth and why they deserve to be in his future first eleven starting lineups. Barcelona have also lost three of their last home games and they will be looking to round off their season on a high. The aim will be to give their fans an entertaining victory.
Granada vs Athletic Biblao:
Following 6-2 win over Alaves, Granada has seriously improved their chances of staying at the top tier league as they currently seat at position 17. A win over Bilbao tonight will mean that the relegation scare will be further and further away from them but on the other hand, a loss will make it a possible reality. Only the top three teams in LaLiga have got fewer losses than Bilbao's 9 but they have got an inability to turn draws into victories. The draws have been a thorny issue especially away from home as 9 out of their 17 matches have ended in stalemate. Given that Granada are under pressure to avoid relegation, they might be the favorites to win this game as they will be going into the game with a need for victory.
