Romelu Lukaku wants to join Italian powerhouse Inter Milan because he is not happy at Chelsea. The Belgian international was forced to leave the Nerazzurri as they faced financial challenges and he chose to go to Chelsea returning to the Premier League again after his Manchester United stunt. Needless to say, his second attempt in the EPL failed and he is now aiming to go back to Inter Milan, the only club he has ever shone as he won the Serie A title with them. Inter are still in financial turmoil, not like the kind of hardship Barcelona are in but they still need to sell, and they cannot afford to play even the third of Lukaku's price. The only option, therefore, that Lukaku has to force a return to Inter is through a loan which brings difficulties in his transfer.
Lukaku has accepted to take a significant pay cut just to seal the loan deal with Inter. It is reported that he is willing to reduce his salary to €7million to make a comeback to Inter with a deal for 2 years loan with an obligation set at €50million after the loan. The only reason Inter would like a two-year loan is to avoid taxes. They want to take advantage of the ‘Growth Decree rule’ a scheme that lets Italian teams buy players from abroad with significant tax breaks as long as the said players stay in the country for at least two years.
The Blues need reinforcement in their attacking line before they can think of shipping Lukaku to Italy. Although Thomas Tuchel ‘would not mind’ losing Lukaku from his squad since the player does not blend in much with his football philosophy and styles of play. Rudiger and Christensen have also left the club as free agents meaning that the defense line also needs reinforcements. It is worth mentioning that Marcos Alonso would also like to leave the club. Inter are not, however, putting all their hope in a Lukaku return and they are also in negotiations with Paulo Dybala who has left Juventus as a free agent. If they manage to get both Lukaku and Dybala on board, that will mean that they will have four players battling to play in the same position; Dybala, Lukaku, Dzeko, and Lautaro.
