German equipment manufacturer Puma and AC Milan Football Club have extended their cooperation with a new multi-year contract. It is not known, however, for how long the contract will run as the two parties have not disclosed to the public that part of the agreement. According to the agreement, AC Milan will receive twice as much money as they did annually. This basically means that 30 million euros will be paid to AC Milan's account by the German manufacturer per season. Puma took over the production of equipment for the Serie A champions from Adidas in 2018. The new cooperation, however, concentrates not only on jerseys and accompanying equipment but will also venture into the women's wing of the club and youth academy.
The new agreement will result in AC Milan's academy for younger categories and women's teams being named "Puma's house of football" in the future. Puma has also committed to helping develop AC Milan's women's football together with nurturing the talent of all young players. It is also understood that the first team will use a small portion of the 30 million euros in the current transfer window. AC Milan are yet to sign any new players although in a matter of a few days Divock Origi will sign from Liverpool as a free agent. This is as a result of the Belgium international refusal to sign a contract extension at Anfield and is now in search for more playing time at the San Siro Stadium. Jenns Peter Hague was sold to Eintracht from Milan for 12 million euros.
Puma are considered as the third force after Nike and Adidas in the sportswear industry. AC Milan have therefore landed themselves a partnership that will see them get back to becoming a reckoning force in the UEFA Champions League in the coming seasons. They have already got back to their Serie A glory days after bagging the last season's title dethroning their arch-rivals Inter Milan with whom they share a similar stadium, the San Siro.
