Adidas has now unveiled the ball to be used in the UEFA Champions League final match between Premier League powerhouse Liverpool and LaLiga champions Real Madrid in a repeat of what was the 2017-18 season final. The final will be held in Paris at Stade de France which is the stadium for the France national football team. Their last meeting in a UCL final was held in Kyiv which is the capital city of Ukraine which is under an invasion attack from Russia. The ball that will be used in this season's UCL final will carry a message of peace and it will be auctioned off after the match. Sports including football have united in the condemnation of Russia and their national football teams and even their clubs are on a ban from competing in any international sporting events including the UEFA competitions.
The Champions League showpiece of this year was supposed to be held at the Kretovosky Stadium in Saint Petersburg but the venue was changed to Paris as a protest against Russia. The decision not to retail this season's final ball and instead action it was reached in order to channel the funds of the auction to help in the funding of humanitarian efforts. The ball will be inscribed with the word ‘peace’ which will be written in the Russian language, a language spoken widely covering even Ukraine and most of the nations that were in the larger Soviet Union.
The ball is meant to pass a message of peace, hope, and belonging that will be passed from player to player in the Stade de France with every kick of the ball. This message will be spread beyond the stadium to the farthest corners of the world. The ball is devoid of color mostly featuring the color white which is a symbol of truce and unity that lead to peace.
