The Belgian international has hailed the coming of former Borussia star into the Manchester City squad and hinted at the club achieving greater heights.

Manchester City's top assister Kevin De Bryune says that he is excited to work with top striker Erling Haaland after the Norwegian completed a move to the Premier League champions from Borussia Dortmund. The Belgium international attacking midfielder has further said the arrival of Haaland might enable him to add to his already impressive assist figures. City won their EPL fourth title in just a time span of five seasons and De Bryune was named the Premier League player of the season. He was the top scorer for Pep Guardiola's side with 15 goals in the Premier League and also had a record of 8 assists in the 2021-22 season.

The Belgian, however, fell short of his tally of 20 EPL assists he added to his name during the 2019-20 season, a record he holds jointly with former Arsenal and French player Thierry Henry who managed the tally during the 2002-03 season. But with the coming of Haaland, De Bryune can attempt to break the record as he continues to plie his trade in the Premier League. Before the arrival of Erling Haaland, Manchester City had been without any recognized striker as retired Sergio Aguero had departed the club for Barcelona. Haaland made 89 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and scored 86 goals earning the nickname ‘goal-scoring machine’. He is now expected to thrive even better in Man City with De Bryune providing him with assists after he accepted to move to the Etihad Stadium. De Bryune is on record saying that the signing of Haaland by City will be beneficial both to the club and himself.

De Bryune has hailed Haaland as a striker who can score 20 to 25 goals a season. No other City player came close to the 87 chances De Bruyne created in the Premier League in 2021-22, with fellow midfielder Bernardo Silva second on 59. The Belgian will be turning 31 this year and has hinted at the Qatar 2022 World Cup being his last. Belgium will battle it out with Croatia, Canada, and Morocco in Group F.  He has assured that he plans on playing international football at least to Euro 2024
