Robert Lewandowski is determined to leave Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich with one year remaining in his current contract but Bayern are not willing to let go of him, at least, without getting the full market value for the Poland international. Barcelona have made Lewandowski one of their main transfer targets during this transfer window but it is now emerging that a deal is far from being agreed upon between the two clubs. The Catalan giants are willing to give €40m plus add-ons for the Poland international while Bayern are asking for a transfer fee of €75m. This demand by Bayern is giving them a very strong opening position in the negotiations. It is, however, felt like Lewandowski can no longer continue at the Allianz Arena due to the negative impact he might have on the morale of the squad following his push and pull with the German champions.
It has been reported, however, that €50 million may be a figure that Bayern will eventually accept for the Polish. It is unlikely the matter will have been sorted out by the time Bayern return to preseason training on July 12th. Lewandowski has expressed the desire to move to the Camp Nou and he is waiting on the two clubs to finally reach at an agreement. The standstill is that Barcelona do not have a lot of money to pay for the Polish strike while Bayern are insisting that they must get the monetary value of the striker as compensation for selling him.
Bayern’s strategy is simply to make Barça desperate and force them to pay way too much for Lewandowski, and it will be interesting to see if the Catalans will remain calm and be ready to go in another direction if the weeks go by and no deal gets done. Barcelona gifted themselves Gabon international, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal last month and he has had a very productive debut season. They, however, still need some reinforcements at their attacking line and Lewandowski will serve them well.
