The Emilia Grand Prix qualifiers was characterised by an unfavourable weather and driver mistakes.

Mercedes yet again had a disappointing display at the qualifying session ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Formula1 superstar, Lewis Hamilton missed out on Q1 as he finished 13th in the incident-strewn, weather-affected qualifiers. The Reigning champion, Verstappen secured his first pole position of the season, albeit he needs to maintain that in the sprint race to start at the front on Sunday. 

Ferrari is the leader in the constructors' standings with its championship-leading Charles Leclerc set to start alongside Verstappen on the front row on Saturday. Mercedes are second, 39 points behind Ferrari. Red Bull come in place third, 10 points adrift of second-placed Mercedes. Speaking in an interview, the seven-time world champion, Hamilton in an interview admitted that it wasn't a great session saying that they underperformed as a team. Verstappen also echoed out on the difficulties of the qualifying session admitting that the rains made it slippery and hectic but further added that he was happy with the pole hoping that the weather will be conducive for the race on Saturday. 

McLaren driver, Lando Norris spun into the barriers to end Q3. He will start in third place on Saturday. He said that he was happy he was in the top three adding that his car was feeling good and he was feeling confident. Leclerc meanwhile had to settle for second place start saying that the wet patches made driving very tricky. The focus now shifts from the qualifiers to the actual Grand Prix on Saturday.
