The English giants and their Spanish counterparts will battle it out at the OId Trafford tonight for a chance to advance into the quarters.

The Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid contest is poised at 1-1 following the first leg at Wanda Metropolitano. Joao Felix and Anthony Elanga were the only goal scorers in the first leg tie. It will be a gruelling battle at the Old Trafford Stadium tonight as both teams look for a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo will be tasked to action tonight for United as he has so far netted 25 times against Atletico in his professional career making them his favourite opposition.

Atletico enter the second leg fixture coming from a 2-1 victory against Cadiz in the Friday's LaLiga match. The LaLiga Champions now seat inside the top 4 at a very crucial time of this season's campaign. They are however not in the title race this season and their only chance of securing a medal will be in the Champions League. Atletico were not that convincing in their group stage matches as they only won two of the six matches played although they managed to finish second in the group. Atletico lost to Chelsea in last season's campaign at the round of 16 knock out stage. They lost both home and away against Liverpool in the group stages but have nonetheless won nine out of 12 two-legged knock out contests while facing English opposition.

Manchester meanwhile finished top of their group and are coming from an exciting 3-2 win over Tottenham following Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick last weekend. United failed to make it passed the group stage in the last campaign ultimately dropping into the Europa League to reach the final but lost to Villarreal. They have previously eliminated French power house Paris Saint Germain at this level of knock out stage in the 2018-19 season. United have won seven out of 11 of their previous round of 16 fixtures although this will be their first against Atletico Madrid ever since the November of 1991 when the two sides played to a 1-1 draw. Football lovers across the globe await to see which side will stand taller between the 20 times English Champions and the Spanish capital giants.
