The five African teams going to the FIFA 2022 Qatar world cup have been confirmed.

Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia, Morocco, and Ghana will carry the continent's hope at the FIFA World Cup this year. All the five booked their places in Qatar by winning a two-legged play offs. The away goal rule sent Cameroon and Ghana into the World cup while Senegal vs Egypt had to be settled on penalties. Morocco were the only big winners as they saw off DR Congo 4-1 taking the aggregate score to 5-2. Tunisia held on a 0-0 draw against Mali to see them prevail with the 1-0 win they earned in the first leg.

After three and a half hours of play, penalties were needed to separate the AFCON 2022 finalists Senegal and Egypt. Egypt won the first leg 1-0 but lost the second leg with the same score. These scores sent the match to penalty kicks where by Mohammed Salah missed his kick while Sadio Mane sealed victory for his side by scoring the decisive kick. Egypt's players were handicapped by fans shinning lasers in their eyes which was a very bad picture showing how even us as Africans are still far from leaving in a racially equal society.

Thomas Partey of Arsenal was the man of the match between the Nigeria vs Ghana contest as he scored the crucial away goal that saw the latter proceed into the tournament. The Algeria vs Cameroon match was very dramatic as Algeria had already sealed their spot in Qatar at the 118th minute of extra time through Ahmed Touba's strike before Karl Toko Ekambi scored at the additional time of the extra time to snatch victory for Cameroon. Among the scorers in the Morocco vs DR Congo match was Achraf Hakimi.
