The FKF Management Committee is against the decision by the Ministry of Sports to further extend the mandate of the FKF Transition Committee.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Management Committee has warned that they will run parallel leagues if the government does not go back from its decision to extend the mandate of the FKF Transitional Committee for a further two months. On the 16th of August, the outgoing sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed extended the term of the committee by two more months giving them control of football until October 2022. The move to extend has been received with sharp criticism from other football stakeholders who feel that the committee has overstayed in the first place and has failed to give a clear plan of how it will remove Kenya from the Federation of International Football Associations  (FIFA) bad books.

A rival group led by FKF Nairobi East branch chairman Amos Otieno now insists that the decision to extend the committee’s mandate is illegal and has warned that there will be two rival leagues should the decision not be turned around. The group is under the FKF Management Committee which is led by FKF Murang’a Branch chairman Robert Macharia. The management committee was plotting to take over football affairs from the transitional committee back in June but their plan did not materialize as a result of the Cabinet Secretary in charge of sports continuing with the body she first formed when she dissolved FKF

Otieno also serves as the management committee vice chairperson and has now asked the clubs to prepare for separate leagues as he is focused on there being a parallel league. “This is laughable. We can't extend the term of the Transition Committee twice. Her decision is unacceptable and Kenyans should be prepared for a parallel league,” said Otieno. He further pointed out that one of the reasons the Transitional Committee should be kicked out was because Tusker and Vihiga Queens had missed out on continental football which was a direct failure of the committee. “We want to move forward and it's unfortunate that some people are holding us at ransom. Why weren't Tusker and Vihiga Queens included in the draws of continental shows?" Posed Otieno. The Transitional Committee says that the FKF Premier League, as well as the Women's League, will begin i September.
