The biggest milestone for football's flagship event is fast approaching and the procedures for the final draw for the FIFA World Cup 2022 are now available. From 19:00 (Qatar time) teams and fans will find out their path to possible glory at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center with 29 out of the 32 teams already known.
The procedures approved by the Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions outline that the 29 already qualified teams will be allocated according to sporting principles pots 1 to 4 based on the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking released on 31st March following the conclusion of the international match window. Eeach pot contains 8 teams. Qatar will take position A1 from pot 1 automatically as the hosts. They will then be joined by the 7 highest ranked qualified teams according to FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's ranking. Pot 2 will be the countries occuoying position 8 to 15 in the rankings of the qualified teams, The 16th to the 23rd position will be allocated to pot 3 while the remaining 24th to 32nd position will go to pot 4 which also includes two winners of the intercontinental play-offs and the remaining UEFA play-off winner.
