Arsenal were thrashed 3-0 at Selhurst Park by Crystal Palace and missed the chance to move back to position 4 and now seat at number 5 sharing the same points with Conte's side Tottenham Hotspur but with 1 game at hand only being separated by goal difference. Mikel Arteta had things going on swimmingly with his side winning 6 out of the 7 matches played before yesterday night when he faced Crystal Palace. Going into the game with the pressure to go back to their number four position, Arsenal crashed to a shambolic defeat at Selhurst Park.
The defeat has raised questions of whether the Gunners have what it takes to keep the pace in the remaining matches ahead of the Premier League season's end. Pressure now piles up on Arsenal who have a Champions League spot on the line having played in the tournament last during the 2016-2017 season when Arsene Wenger was still the manager. The goal scorers of the night were Mateta J, Ayew J both assisted by Anderson J and Zaha W who scored through a penalty kick.
Patrick Vieira, the Crystal Palace manager said that he was very proud of his side's performance saying that their biggest motivation of the day came from the atmosphere in the stadium with the fans playing a very huge role in propelling them to success. Although Arsenal might have slipped in their race for a top four finish, they are still at a better position than their North London rivals, Tottenham and Manchester United to achieve the UCL spot finish. Arteta now has to try to raise his players ahead of their Saturday's game against Brighton.
