The Camp Nou will undergo renovations during the 2023-24 season and Barcelona have confirmed that they will be moving to the Olympic Stadium. The Catalan giants home stadium is the biggest in Europe with a sitting capacity of 99,354. The legendary Camp Nou was opened to the public back in 1957 and it is set to change its name to the Spotify Camp Nou from the 2022-23 season going forward. The club earlier in March struck a sponsorship deal with the streaming company which included handing them the naming rights of the iconic stadium.
In a statement released by the club. They confirmed that renovations will begin this June as soon as the season ends and the construction will be carried out in accordance with the building permit that was approved by the authorities. They further added that the construction works will focus on the environs of the stadium, exterior urbanization, and technological aspects. Their new temporary home is Spain's Olympic stadium also known as Lluís Companys Stadium has a seating capacity of 55,926 and it was used as the main stadium of the Olympics games of the year 1992.
The renovations are expected to be over fully somewhere between the 2025-26 stadium. The final design also includes a 360 degrees screen and other state-of-the-art technologies with maximum use of the 5G connectivity set to be incorporated in the security and vehicle access control systems.
