The Safari Rally is fast approaching and we give you an insight of the places that you need to be in order not to miss out on the motor racing global showpiece event.

The 2022 Kenyan Safari Rally will be a motor racing event that will be held in Kenya over four days running from Thursday, 23rd June to Sunday, 26th June. It will mark the 69th running of the Safari Rally and the event will be the 6th round of the 2022 World Rally Championship (WRC). The 2022 event is set to be contested in 19 special stages thus covering a total competitive distance of 363.44 kilometers. French men Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia are the defending rally champions.

The Rally will start on Thursday 23rd June at the heart of Nairobi and will be followed by a side-by-side super special during the afternoon. hours at kasarani which is situated to the northeast of the city center. The event will then proceed to Friday 24th where the rally will kick off on the northern and southern shores of Lake Naivasha. The first race will take place in the forested Loldia followed by Geothermal and Kedong to the south. Kedong which will be 31.25 kilometers is the longest stage of the Safari rally. The cars will then proceed to be serviced and then all the three stages of Kedong, Geothermal, and Loldia will be repeated to take the day's total kilometers to 124.20km. 

Saturday's 134.90 kilometers showdown will take place north of Lake Elementaita. It will open up with an extended Sosyambu by Elmenteita’s oft-used tracks in the Delamere Estate and Sleeping Warrior. The trio will then be repeated again for a second time after the cars have undergone service. Sunday's final will head back south of Lake Naivasha The day will kick-start at Oserian located at Oserengoni Wildlife Conservancy Estate. The conservancy is home to lions, leopards, giraffes, antelope, and buffalo. The stage will be followed by Narasha and Hell's Gate. The finishing at Hell's Gate boasts of stunning scenery at Fishers Tower, and it will be the Wolf Power Stage. The trio stages will then be driven again for a second time after the cars have been serviced. The 19 stages will total 363.56 kilometers. The iconic stage amongst these will be the Soysambu stage which has been extended by 9km to 30km. It will have a couple of a couple of river crossings near the finish with steep entries and exits, mud trucks on standby to pull anyone clear who gets stuck, big straights, flowing corners, rocky climbs, rough compressions, and hard lava roads. It will be a stage like no other.
