The San Siro Stadium is owned by the City of Milan and both Inter Milan and AC Milan are tenants despite been bitter rivals.

Inter Milan and AC Milan have one of the fiercest rivalries in the football world. They are two of the powerhouses in the Italian Serie A alongside Juventus and they hail from the City of Milan. One surprising fact is that they share the San Siro Stadium which is owned by the City of Milan. Therefore, there is no room for a fierce away atmosphere like is the case with El-Clasico at Camp Nou and the Bernebeu or the Merseyside Derby at Anfield and Goodison Park just to name but a few. SokaPro has what you need to know as to why these two sworn arch-rivals share a stadium despite the bad blood that runs between them.

The San Siro was initially the home of AC Milan since its construction in 1926. Inter Milan were playing their home games at Arena Civica which took a shape of a colosseum-inspired design. Since the year 1947, however, Inter Milan and AC Milan have been sharing the San Siro Stadium for their home games after they both had a good experience as shared tenants. In order to avoid schedule clashing, none of them host home matches on the same day. The San Siro currently has a seating capacity of 80,018 people but there are plans to even upgrade it to a higher capacity. There are plans to build another stadium just not far from the San Siro which will be known as The Cathedral to ease the increasing attendance at the San Siro

Inter Milan and AC Milan are not the only clubs  in Italy that share a stadium, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome is also shared by AS Roma and SS Lazio. Stadio Olimpico also has the additional task of being the home stadium of the Italian national football team alongside their national rugby team. Sampdoria and Genoa also share the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. It is, however, astonishing in an exciting way how two teams of the stature of AC Milan and Inter Milan can share a stadium despite the hatred and bad blood that runs between their players, management, coaches, and fans. Mind blowing, isn't it?
