Saudi Media have become the newest entrants in the bidding to acquire Chelsea following the sale of the club by the now sanctioned owner Roman Abramovich. The bid is being spearheaded by spearheaded by Mohamed Alkhereiji the C.E.O of the group and and a die hard Chelsea supporter. In the plans of the Saudi Media group are the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, renewing the contracts of key players that are due to expire and also inputting heavy investment in the club's academy at Cobham Training Centre while also channeling resources to the women's team.
Saudi Media is the biggest media corporation in the Middle East with a turnover of $1billion per financial year giving them the muscles to be a powerful player in Premier League football. However, their take-over if successful, will be co-funded by a consortium of other private Saudi Arabian backers. Given what has recently befallen them, Chelsea have discouraged "politically sensitive" parties from bidding for the club. The Saudi Media does not believe it falls under that category.
Hansjorg Wyss in conjunction with Todd Boehly have put up a joint bid while English billionaire Nick Candy is also among those looking to acquire the club.
