Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to a deal worth in the region of £25 million with Brighton & Hove Albion for Yves Bissouma. The 25-year-old is set to sign a 5-year deal with Spurs. Bissouma is entering his final one year in his Brighton contract and he has attracted the interests of various top clubs. The Mali international will now become the third signing of the north London club after Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster. Tottenham have only input 150 million Euros to be used during the transfer window and they are planning to make the most out of it. Arsenal, Aston Villa and Everton had been among the other clubs interested in signing the Mali international.
Spurs have been watching Bissouma ever since he played with the French side Lille. He was in their list of targets to replace Moussa Dembele in 2018 but Tottenham ended up signing Tanguy Ndombele in a club-record deal. Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte was particularly impressed by Bissouma following his performances against Spurs last season. Djed Spence is also in talks with Tottenham and he might be headed to the club from Middlesbrough. The club are aware they must add to their list of home-grown players and the England international is now on international duty playing for the England U21 team. With the money that has been availed to Spurs, the hierarchy is clearly backing Conte in the transfer market.
There are some at the club who feel it's inaccurate they didn't spend in the past but there is an acknowledgment they didn't always get recruitment right. Extensive homework is being carried out on player ability and character. The club rejected the chance to sign one talented Premier League player because their research highlighted concerns he could be a disruptive influence. Conte is not taking anything to chance and he is ready to make Tottenham a club that nobody wants to play against.
