United have already started carrying out interviews with Ajax boss being the first among the shortlisted candidates to be interviewed.

Manchester United plan to speak to multiple candidates for the role of head coach ahead of next season as this season draws to a closure. The targeted names on their list are; Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag, Paris Saint Germain's Mauricio Pochettino, Spain national team coach Luis Enrique, and Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui. They are all in the shortlist to repalce sacked coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ralf Rangnick has been at the helm at the Old Trafford on interim basis ever since November.

The process for the search of the new boss is said to have now reached a more advanced stage with interviews being conducted and the first candidate to be interviewed was Erik ten Hag. Sources indicate that the United want to speed up the mangers search during this international break and club owners, the Glazer family and chief executive Richard Arnold keen to finalise an appointment before the end of the season. Ten Hag has won two league titles and two KNVB Cups with Ajax. John Murtough, United's director of football, is the one leading the club in their search for their fifth manager ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired and Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Haag are seen as the front runner candidates.

Pochettino is under contract with PSG until June 2023 and so is Haag but Pochettino's failure to deliver the UEFA Champions League to Paris might just see him axed out following the trend of what has been happening to previous managers at the club before him. United are however desperate to avoid the mistakes that have left them searching for a fifth manager for the past nine years.
