Ahead of the 3-2 Manchester United win over Norwich City, a storm was gathering, United fans had gathered to protest against the owners, the Glazers family at Old Trafford. The kick-off of that match saw many empty seats at the Old Trafford. That was the beginning of the fans' revolution at United as they now want a paradigm shift in the squad.
The voices are now becoming louder by the day especially after suffering yet again, another humiliating 3-1 defeat in the hands of their arch-rivals, Arsenal. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick said fans had a "right to express their opinion", and that he understood their "disappointment" with the club's seventh-place position. "We respect the right of fans to voice their opinions peacefully and we will continue to listen to them, with the aim of working together to get the club back to where we all want it to be: competing for trophies," a Manchester United spokesperson said.
Ralf Rangnick has suggested that up to 10 players are needed if the United rebuilding is to be successful. With United facing a crucial clash against Chelsea on Thursday, the fans might just be reaching their breaking point and only a win might salvage a mother of all protests from erupting calling on quick actions that need to be taken in a raft of measures to return the club to the glory that it ones enjoyed. Since the exit of Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm of United, Erik ten Hag will become their fifth permanent coach not to mention two caretaker coaches in between the previous four and one interim manager currently serving in the first team. Louis Van Gaal, who is also a previous United manager and current Netherlands national team coach even urged Ten Haag not to accept the United job offer accusing them of being more of a business club than a football club. There need for the Glazers family to act fast to resolve the plight of the club's fans or else they might be in for a rude shock before next season begins.
