FSV Mainz 05 vs Cologne, Friday 21: 30PM

Mainz and Cologne face off in their first Bundesliga game of the season. Die Nullfunfer hope to build on their 3-0 victory against Lubeck in the German Cup by winning their fifth Bundesliga game of the campaign. Mainz did well by beating Werder Bremen away from home in their last Bundesliga match, and it was no surprise the odds for them to win at home had dropped.

FSV Mainz 05 vs Cologne Predictions : Home Win or Over 2.5 Goals

Porto vs Benfica, Friday 10:15PM

Everyone will be watching Estádio do Dragão when Porto plays against Benfica in the Portuguese league on Friday night. Porto aim to win back-to-back games against Braga and Portimonenses, but they will face a much bigger challenge against their bitter rivals. There are no fresh injuries for the home side, but they could face some tough opposition from the away side.

Veteran defender Pepe is likely to be out for the game against Benifica due to injury. On the other hand, the Eagles managed to come back from 2 goals down to win against Rio Ave 4-2 at the end of the matchday. Anyway, the match between Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto seems to be even right now. Defensive duo Felipe Melo – Lucas Viscarra has been ruled out due to injury for the away team. Tough game to call but I am tipping both teams to score and under 2.5 goals.

Real Madrid vs Sevilla, Saturday 22:00PM

There wasn't any "El Clasico" hangover for Real Madrid after they beat Barcelona 3-1 last week. They then thrashed Elche 3-0 at midweek with newly-named Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema on the scoresheet. For the first time ever in La Liga history, a team has three goals overturned by VARS, showing just how dominant Carlo Anceloti’s partially-turned side was on the evening.

For Sevilla, league-leader Madrid (W9,D1) will almost be at full strength for this match, and will welcome back goalkeeper Thibaut Courtouis as they look to extend their unbeaten away H2H record which dates back to December 2008 (w14, d1). His return from injury could have a big impact too, as none of the last three of those matches saw Los Blancos keep a clean sheet (W2, D1).

After a dismal start to the campaign, Sevilla are now showing signs of improvement under new manager Jorge Sampaoli. Those draws all ended 1-1, including their last outing against Valencia, where they salvaged a point with a late equalizer. That was just their third goal after half-time in LL this term, so questions remain about their ability to go the distance, particularly against big hitters such as Madrid. To be honest, I don't see them winning against Real Madrid and I am backing a big straight home win and over 2.5 goals.

Real Madrid vs Sevilla Predictions : Home Win and Over 2.5 Goals

Valencia vs Mallorca, Saturday 19:30PM

After three draws out of their last four games, Valencia look forward to their 1st win over the weekend. Each of those draws has been worrying because they've lost the lead at some point during the game. If they'd kept hold of that lead, they would be in the fourth place.

In spite of those disappointing draws, Valencia are now five matches unbeaten in La Liga (LL) (W2, D3) so will believe they can end a three-season absence from European competition. ‘Los Che’ may feel confident of extending that unbeaten run against a Mallorca side they haven’t tasted defeat against in the last four home H2Hs (W2, D2), though they did need two stoppage-time goals to salvage a draw in this fixture last season.

With just one victory in their last seven league games, Mallorca continues slip on the table. Other than a 4-1 humbling at the hands of Real Madrid, each of Mallorca’s other defeats this season have all been decided by a single-goal margin, which does suggest they are close to finding some positive results, but boss Javier Aguirre will know they need to come sooner rather than later. I am also going for a home win & over 2.5 goals.
