Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr have successfully completed the signing of Senegal superstar Sadio Mane from reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Sadio Mane is set to stay at Al Nassr until 2027 as he has put pen to paper on a four-year deal which is set to make him the highest-paid African footballer earning in excess of £650,000 per week tax-free. It is understood that Al Nassr paid around £24m for the services of the Senegalese football star who will now join forces with five times Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. Mane now becomes Al Nassr's fourth signing of the season after Alex Telles, Marcelo Brozovic, and Seko Fofana, and he will wear his signature number 10 jersey. He leaves the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich after just one season after he joined the club from Liverpool for £35m but he failed to reinvent his Premier League form in the German league and has now opted to try out a new challenge.

Although Mane did not make a desired impact at the Allianz Arena, he still boasts of winning the Bundesliga title and the DFL-Supercup with the German powerhouse. He netted 7 goals in 25 league appearances in his only campaign in the German league. The Senegalese talisman further fell out of favour with Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel after his altercation with teammate Leroy Sane which lead to his suspension in addition to a fine after he punched the German. Mane has acknowledged that he has been left hurt after leaving the German side following an interview that went viral where he claimed “Leaving FC Bayern hurts me. I would have wished for a different ending. I know that I could have helped the team this season. I wanted to prove it to everyone this season. Nevertheless, I only wish the club and the fans the best for the future.” Tuchel replied to the said comments when asked by saying: "We had a long, big hug and we both agreed we don't like what's happening now, but we think it's for the best in this situation. Sometimes things don't work out as everybody wants. I have always had a very good relationship with him and this will stay. I can totally understand he feels hurt and I also wouldn't feel happy if things like this happened. Obviously, it's something that we didn't bring to the full potential, which is my responsibility, but in this particular situation it was the best solution to untie the knot."

In the meantime, a statement from Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen on the club's official website read: "We want to thank Sadio Mane for the past season. It certainly wasn't an easy year for him, getting injured just before the World Cup and being unable to take part in it with Senegal, who he'd previously led to a first triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification. Because of his long lay-off, he also couldn't have the impact at FC Bayern that we all, and he himself had hoped for. That's why we came to the joint decision that he'll begin a new chapter in his career and make a new start at a different club. We wish him all the best and lots of success for the challenges ahead at Al-Nassr."

Before Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich, he had enjoyed plenty of success at Premier League giants Liverpool, netting 120 goals in 269 appearances as well as winning six titles including the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. His debut game with Al Nassr could be their Arab Club Champions Cup fixture against Egyptian side Zamalek. There is no doubt that the talented Senegalese striker will make a great positive impact in his new club.
