Newcastle demolished Aston Villa 5-1 at St James' Park this past weekend while Manchester City recently clinched the UEFA Super Cup title after beating La Liga giants Sevilla on penalties to be crowned winners on Wednesday. Cole Palmer was the man to force the game into extra-time as he scored an equalizer against the current UEFA Europa League title holders just ten days after he had scored an opener against Arsenal in the Community Shield. Sevilla carved out several openings against the UEFA Champions League title holders but penalties would be required to decide the destiny of the UEFA Super Cup, where nine out of the ten penalty-takers converted their kicks into goals before Nemanja Gudelj sent his efforts way above the crossbar.

Eddie Howe's Newcastle currently lead the table thanks to their opening goal difference of 4. They will soon have UEFA Champions League football in their minds as they await to learn how they will maneuver in the group stages matches. Going forward, repairing an underwhelming away record is Howe's number one priority as they conceded most of the goals last season while on the road. Newcastle, however, have a Premier League unbeaten record of five games and they will be looking to extend it when they face off with the current title holders. Last season Newcastle played out a 3-3 draw against Pep Guardiola's men at St James' Park but the Citizens punished them with two goals with no reply when the Magpies visited Etihad for the second leg. Newcastle have been touted as one of the teams that are rising to become a permanent member of the EPL top six but many argue that this season will be the one to test their real mantle. It is a wait-and-see game for football lovers around the globe as they await to be entertained by classic football at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow as two of the best teams in the Premier League face off.
