Neymar has been put up on sale by PSG and initial reports coming from France had linked him up with a move to Stamford Bridge. It is understood that PSG would accept an offer of between £ 60 million and £ 70 million. Speculations are ripe, however, that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino does not want the club to move for the 31-year-old. A move for him is not financially viable as the Brazilian superstar earns a reported £600,000 a week at PSG. Pochettino and Chelsea are aligned in their transfer strategy which is more keen at targeting young rising talents rather than established star figures. A move for Neymar is therefore seen as a nonstarter as sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are working closely with Pochettino.
Further reports indicate that Neymar is said to have his heart on a return to Barcelona. Chelsea have also ruled out a move for his teammate Kylian Mbappe. Neymar almost joined the Blues in 2010 after the club were said to have offered ‘lots of money’ but despite the financial attempt from the West Londoners, the Brazilian forward opted to snub a move to the Premier League and joined La Liga powerhouse Barcelona a few years later instead. He had a successful stint at Camp Nou where he played alongside superstars such as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez amongst others. Barcelona, however, cashed in on him in a record € 222 million (£200m) bid from PSG. If Neymar is successful in finding another club, then PSG will be facing the possibility of losing their attacking trio of Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar in the span of this transfer window.
Although reports indicate that Neymar has told his management that he is keen to leave PSG this summer with just under two years left in his contract with the French capital giants, he gave a completely different scenario in his recent interview with Brazilian YouTube channel Que Papinho. He said: "So far, no one has told me anything [about leaving]. The process [after injury] was very painful and it is very difficult, but I am trying to come back well. Obviously, winning is always part of the objectives, but I want to play well again, that's the first thing." Sources close to Neymar indicate that a senior delegation from Al-Hilal flew to the French capital on Friday intending to find out whether the Brazilian star is open to a move to the Saudi Pro League. The personal terms of the agreement that was on offer would be comparable to those of Cristiano Ronaldo and the package was believed to be around €200million (£171m) a year. The Saudi giants are willing to open talks with PSG for the talisman in the region of €45million (£38m) as a transfer fee. Football fans around the globe wait to see whether PSG will let go of Neymar, who is one of their most influential strikers to another club as they have already lost the legendary Lionel Messi and are possibly looking at losing their key player Mbappe.
